South Pars Oil Layer production was officially started on April 16, 2017 by President Rouhani in the inauguration ceremony for South Pars phases 17 to 21 and Oil Layer. During this ceremony President Rouhani authorized the production startup for all of these offshore platform through a video conference and he pointed out that oil production in South Pars has been one of the great aspirations of Iranian Oil and gas industry.
President Rouhani stated “Today we are very glad that this project has reached its production phase through capable hands of Iranian Oil Industry. We hope that, through further developments, we can increase the current production capacity of this project from 30~35 kbpd to 50~60 kpbd”
